jarred has announced a voluntary recall of some apple butter jars due to possible health risk. Only jars with batch numbers from 234 to 266 may have been affected. No other jars have been affected.

Affected batches may contain jars that are improperly sealed and are therefore at risk of contamination by bacteria. Due to the high acidity of apple butter, risk of contamination is quite low, but still possible. Contents of improperly sealed jars should therefore not be eaten. Consumers who have purchased affected jars should contact jarred directly at jarredOnline.email@gmail.com for replacement and/or refund. If you have jars with the affected batch numbers but are unsure of whether or not your jar is properly sealed, please contact jarred for further information.

jarred takes food safety very seriously and thoroughly checks each jar to ensure a proper seal, however due to a supplier mistake, atypical lids were used for some batches before the error was caught. These lids lack a certain security feature to determine a proper seal, and require a different method of testing to ensure a correct seal has been formed. Both methods of testing have now been incorporated into jarred's standard procedures to ensure the safety of all jar contents.
