Totally addictive smoky dip/sandwich spread

I've tried to write this blog post so many times, but every time I make a batch of this dip intending to get great pictures of all it's uses, we end up eating it all before I can get photos taken! It's seriously that delicious, and super easy to make.

While the photo I did manage to take shows it as a chip dip (which is certainly a great option!) it's also perfect for cut veggies if you want to go the healthier way, especially if you choose to use greek yogurt instead of sour cream as noted in the recipe.

If any of it manages to survive past whatever meal or snack we made it for in the first place, we also use it as a sandwich spread or sauce on a chicken wrap to add some extra flavour.

This weekend we're having a bunch of people over for a birthday party, and I anticipate making a huge portion of this because I think people will use it for everything - chip dip, veggie dip, deep fried pickle dip, chicken wing dip etc etc etc. And that's the beauty of this recipe, it's SO easy to scale according to whatever you want to use it for!

UPDATE - July 18

As expected, people loved the dips! And I even managed to get a photo with healthy options before we ate it all.

But an even funnier update, is that we accidentally discovered that this dip is tasty with vanilla greek yogurt as well. It adds a bit of sweetness to it that blends quite nicely.

Yes, we were at a friend's house making dip for a BBQ, and didn't read the label closely enough to realize it wasn't plain yogurt. I knew the end result tasted different than what we usually have, but figured it was just because we most often use sour cream for it. Everyone who tried it said it was tasty, so I assumed it was just me and didn't think much of it.

About halfway through eating the dip, Chris declared that he liked this batch better than when we use sour cream (to which I politely disagreed), and one of our friend's piped in with "well, I assume you would usually make it with plain greek yogurt." and thus we discovered our mistake.

Ingredients: (for standard serving)

- 1/4 cup sour cream or greek yogurt

- 1/4 cup mayonnaise

- approx. 1 TBSP smoky seasoning (or spicy seasoning)

Directions:

1. Mix all of the above together.

2. Adjust seasoning to taste. Note that for the spicy seasoning to actually have heat to it instead of just flavour, it will require more seasoning added due to the nature of dairy neutralizing spiciness.

Seriously, that's it! Trust me, if you're anything like we are, you will start craving this on everything it's so good.
